Location:
Murrieta, CA 92562 We are a busy single-doctor veterinary ophthalmology clinic seeking a team member who is comfortable working with animals and enjoys being part of a small, collaborative team. Our practice is fast-paced, and the ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively and adapt as needs change is important.
Veterinary Assistant responsibilities may include:
  • Safe handling and restraint of animals for examinations, diagnostic testing and treatments
  • Providing basic patient care and husbandry
  • Performing routine ophthalmic testing
  • Preparing examination rooms and assisting the veterinarian during appointments
  • Communicating effectively with clients regarding instructions and patient care
  • Entering and maintain accurate medical records
  • Collecting and processing laboratory samples
  • Preparing patients and the operating room for surgical procedures and following OR protocols
  • Assisting with anesthesia monitoring and surgical patient care
  • Cleaning, sterilizing and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and sanitary environment
  • Assisting with front-desk responsibilities as needed We are willing to train the right candidate in ophthalmology-specific procedures.
Candidates with a foundation in veterinary patient care who are motivated to expand their clinical skills are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
  • Experience safely handling and restraining animals is required
  • Previous hands-on veterinary clinical experience or veterinary assistant/technician training that included a clinical externship is strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow medical terminology and instructions
  • Excellent client communication and telephone skills
  • Dependable, organized and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a small team
  • Comfortable using computers and learning practice-management and medical-record software
  • Ability to lift approximately 25
  • 50 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license
  • Professional appearance and conduct; uniforms are provided
  • This is an on-site position, no remote work is available
Schedule:
Day shift, Monday
  • Friday.
Pay:
$17.00
  • $20.
00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
