Job Description
Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This paid role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians, providing essential support in clinical procedures, animal handling, and patient care. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help ensure a smooth, compassionate, and efficient veterinary practice environment. Duties Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering treatments. Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and radiographs. Handle laboratory tasks including sample collection, processing, and understanding basic veterinary laboratory techniques. Operate x-ray equipment safely, ensuring proper positioning and aseptic technique during imaging procedures. Manage pet care routines, including pet grooming, pet handling training, and ensuring animals are comfortable during their stay. Maintain accurate records of animal physiology data, veterinary treatments, and diagnostic results to support clinical decision-making. Skills Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology to support effective communication within the team. Experience in veterinary critical care environments with knowledge of emergency protocols. Laboratory experience including sample collection and processing techniques. Equine experience is a plus for handling larger animals confidently. Skilled in dog handling and training to ensure safe restraint and behavior management. Knowledge of pet grooming techniques and pet care best practices. Proficiency in X-ray operation and interpretation to assist with diagnostic imaging needs. Ability to perform animal catheterization and apply aseptic techniques during procedures. Strong animal restraint skills combined with a compassionate approach to animal handling.
