Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and be committed to providing high-quality support to our veterinary staff and clients. This role involves assisting in the daily operations of the clinic, ensuring the well-being of animals, and contributing to a positive environment for both pets and their owners. Duties Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures. Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively for examinations and treatments. Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring they are clean and comfortable. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or veterinary technician. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including treatment areas, examination rooms, and kennels. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff. Provide excellent customer service by communicating with pet owners about their pets' needs and care instructions. Assist with laboratory tests, including collecting samples such as blood or urine. Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Skills Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Knowledge of veterinary terminology to effectively communicate within the clinic environment. Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures. Understanding of animal anatomy to assist in examinations and treatments effectively. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or as a veterinary technician is preferred Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients and team members. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Compassionate attitude towards animal care, demonstrating empathy for both pets and their owners.
