This position works closely with veterinarians, RVTs, veterinary assistants, and leadership to support boarding pets while helping maintain efficient hospital operations. Boarding Assistants are responsible for monitoring pet well-being, maintaining sanitation standards, assisting with prescribed medications and treatments for boarding pets, and supporting a positive experience for both pets and their owners. Responsibilities Patient Care & Monitoring Monitor boarding pets closely for changes in appetite, behavior, stool, urination, vomiting, or overall condition Report abnormalities or medical concerns promptly to Technicians, Doctors, or Leadership Recognize emergency situations and seek assistance appropriately Follow all feeding, medication, enrichment, and special care instructions accurately Perform medications and routine care tasks according to hospital protocols and electronic medical records Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and observations Safely move and handle pets throughout boarding and exercise areas Assist with bathing, brush-outs, and general hygiene care as needed Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, runs, litter boxes, yards, food bowls, and patient areas thoroughly throughout the shift Follow infection-control and contagious disease protocols carefully Maintain organized, clean, and well-stocked boarding and treatment areas Operate washers and dryers to maintain clean bedding, towels, and hospital laundry Replace bedding and maintain patient comfort standards throughout the day Ensure all kennels, gates, and enclosures are securely latched and monitored consistently Team Support & Hospital Operations Communicate proactively with Technicians, Doctors, Leadership, and coworkers throughout the shift Respond to assignments and requests in a timely and professional manner Assist with boarding admissions and discharges compassionately and professionally Enter patient orders and update patient belongings accurately in hospital systems Monitor communication systems including phones, walkies, Slack, and department communications as assigned Prioritize tasks effectively during busy or high-volume shifts Assist team members while maintaining accountability for assigned patients and tasks Participate in cross-training and support other hospital departments as needed What We're Looking For We are seeking candidates who: Thrive in fast-paced environments Are dependable, organized, and proactive Demonstrate compassion toward patients, clients, and coworkers Communicate professionally and respectfully Work well both independently and as part of a team Can prioritize tasks effectively and maintain attention to detail Remain calm and adaptable during busy or emotionally challenging situations Are comfortable working in physically active environments involving cleaning, lifting, and animal handling Previous veterinary, animal care, kennel, daycare, or customer service experience is strongly preferred.
