Job Description

The Client Services Representative & Hospital Sanitation Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our veterinary surgical center. This position has primary responsibility for hospital sanitation, client service, and front desk operations, with secondary responsibilities assisting the medical team with supervised patient care tasks. This role is essential to patient safety, exceptional client experience, regulatory compliance, and efficient hospital operations. This role is ideal for energetic, organized individuals who enjoy working with both people and animals in a specialized medical environment. Primary Responsibilities:
Client Service & Front Desk Operations Greet clients and patients in a professional, compassionate, and welcoming manner Answer multi-line phones, schedule appointments, and assist with client inquiries Manage patient check-in and check-out processes accurately and efficiently Maintain accurate medical records, intake forms, and client communications within the hospital software system Process invoices, collect payments, and assist with financial transactions Communicate clearly with clients regarding appointments, surgery admissions, discharge instructions, and general hospital policies Coordinate scheduling and communication between clients, veterinary staff, and referral hospitals Monitor lobby and reception areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and a positive client experience Assist with administrative duties including filing, scanning, inventory coordination, and general office support Maintain professionalism and composure while managing high call volumes and fast-paced workflows Support overall hospital efficiency through strong teamwork and communication with medical staff
Primary Responsibilities:
Hospital Care, Cleaning & Infection Control Maintain strict cleanliness and sanitation of all hospital areas, including kennels, treatment spaces, operating rooms, recovery kennels, exam rooms, and common areas, in accordance with hospital protocols and California standards Perform routine, terminal, and isolation cleaning following hospital guidelines Clean, disinfect, and reset kennels between patients Clean, disinfect, and reset operating and treatment areas between procedures Properly segregate, handle, and dispose of medical waste, sharps, and biohazard materials in compliance with California and local regulations Launder, store, and manage hospital linens and reusable patient materials Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of hospital equipment, cages, and furnishings Monitor cleaning, laundry, office, and hospital care supply inventories and communicate needs to leadership Assist in maintaining written logs related to cleaning schedules, waste disposal, and sanitation procedures as required
Secondary Responsibilities:
Supervised Patient Care Support Under direct supervision and within training and competency: Patient Support Provide routine inpatient care, including walking dogs, feeding, bedding changes, and maintaining patient comfort Observe hospitalized patients for changes in comfort, appetite, mobility, or demeanor and promptly report concerns to veterinary staff Safely handle and restrain patients using low-stress techniques to assist technical staff with patient orders or preparation Assist with stocking, organization, and upkeep of treatment and hospitalization areas Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role in a veterinary hospital required Strong customer service and communication skills required Demonstrated ability to learn and follow detailed written protocols Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced surgical environment Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written protocols Reliable, professional, and able to work independently within defined responsibilities Experience with ezyVet software preferred Physical & Regulatory Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive cleaning and handling tasks Comfortable working around animals, medical equipment, cleaning agents, and surgical environments Must comply with all applicable California labor laws, wage orders, and workplace safety requirements, including Cal/OSHA standards
