Job Description

Overview Holistic Paws is a newly established, rapidly growing integrative veterinary hospital in Thousand Oaks, California. Since opening in 2026, we have continued to welcome new clients and expand our services, creating an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. Our hospital combines conventional Western veterinary medicine with Eastern and integrative approaches to support the overall health and well-being of our patients. Responsibilities Assist the veterinarian during physical examinations, patient appointments, and clinical procedures. Provide safe, gentle animal restraint and handling, prioritizing patient comfort and safety. Assist with veterinary treatments and procedures under veterinary supervision. Maintain accurate medical records by documenting patient histories, treatments, procedures, and medication administration as directed by the veterinarian. Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, answer general questions, and explain appointment procedures within the scope of the position. Assist with appointment coordination, patient check-in and checkout, and client inquiries as needed, in collaboration with our receptionist. Maintain clean, organized examination rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment. Perform routine hospital cleaning, sanitation, and equipment disinfection in accordance with established safety protocols. Work collaboratively with the veterinary team to provide a positive experience for patients and their families. Qualifications Previous veterinary assistant, veterinary clinic, or animal-care experience preferred. Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal behavior, and patient handling is a plus. Experience with safe, gentle animal restraint techniques is preferred. Compassionate, patient, and attentive to the needs and behavior of dogs and cats. Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with clients and team members. Dependable, organized, and able to maintain accurate medical records and follow instructions. Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties while following established safety protocols and proper PPE guidelines. Comfortable working in a busy veterinary environment and collaborating with a team. Genuine passion for animal welfare and a willingness to learn and develop new skills. Interest in integrative veterinary medicine is a plus.
Pay:
$19.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 15.0 per week
