Job Description:
We're excited to announce the opening of a brand new hospital in Walnut Creek and are looking for a dedicated and compassionate, experienced Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team. In this fast-paced environment, you'll play a crucial role in providing excellent care for our animal patients. We're looking for someone who is passionate about animal welfare and has experience in a veterinary setting. Candidates should be comfortable working in a dynamic hospital environment and be open to a flexible schedule, including overtime and extra shifts as needed . The ideal candidate is also willing to cross-train and assist as a Client Service Representative (CSR) when necessary to support the team and provide excellent client communication and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgery. Provide daily animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercise. Safely handle and restrain animals. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment. Perform basic lab work and assist with diagnostic imaging (X-rays). Monitor anesthesia and assist with basic dental cleanings for cats and dogs. Communicate with pet owners and accurately document patient information. Support front desk operations as needed, including cross-training as a Client Service Representative (CSR) to assist with scheduling, client communication, and check-in/check-out processes.
Qualifications We're Looking For:
Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician is highly preferred. Strong animal handling and restraint skills. Knowledge of animal husbandry, anatomy, and physiology. Experience in kennel, laboratory, and critical care is a plus. Familiarity with veterinary and dental terminology. Proficiency in aseptic techniques and anesthesia monitoring. Ability to work a flexible schedule , including overtime and additional shifts when needed . A strong commitment to compassionate pet care and teamwork.
