This fast-paced role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your veterinary technician skills in a high-energy environment, providing urgent care and support during some of the most critical moments in animals' lives. You'll work closely with veterinarians and pet owners, ensuring that every animal receives compassionate, efficient, and expert treatment. Your dedication and proficiency will make a real difference in saving lives and improving animal well-being. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques to ensure safe and effective treatment. Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and perform laboratory tests such as X-rays to support diagnosis and treatment plans. Provide animal husbandry and pet care, including grooming, feeding, and maintaining cleanliness in kennel areas to promote recovery and comfort. Handle a variety of animals with confidence using dog handling skills and animal restraint techniques, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Maintain accurate medical records, including documenting procedures, lab results, and patient progress in accordance with hospital protocols. Support critical care efforts by managing IV fluids, assisting with intubation, and caring for animals in intensive care units. Communicate effectively with pet owners about treatment plans, post-care instructions, and ongoing animal physiology considerations. Requirements Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in emergency or critical care settings. Kennel experience along with animal handling skills for dogs, cats, and other small animals. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures such as X-ray imaging. Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dental care. Experience in animal husbandry practices including pet grooming and general animal care routines. Ability to perform animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures confidently. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within a team and provide clear information to pet owners. Additional nice-to-have skills include equine experience, laboratory experience, dog training knowledge, pet grooming expertise, veterinary critical care experience, and familiarity with veterinary terminology.
