Veterinary Assistant We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team! About the Position As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play an important role in providing excellent care to our patients and helping our veterinary team run smoothly. You'll work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and pet owners while helping create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for both pets and their families. We are looking for someone who: Shows up on time and can be counted on by their coworkers Has a positive, friendly, and professional attitude Treats animals with patience, kindness, and compassion Works well as part of a team Is willing to learn and take direction Takes pride in keeping the clinic clean and organized Communicates well with both coworkers and clients Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Is willing to help wherever needed Responsibilities Depending on experience and training, responsibilities may include: Assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures Safely and humanely handling and restraining animals Preparing equipment and supplies for procedures Collecting samples and assisting with laboratory testing Maintaining clean and sanitary treatment areas, kennels, and surgical areas Following proper safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures Assisting with medications, IV catheter placement, and other medical procedures under supervision and as trained Helping with patient check-in, scheduling, records, and other front-desk duties when needed Communicating with pet owners and providing instructions regarding basic pet care and post-treatment care Helping maintain a positive experience for our patients, clients, and team Performing other duties that help keep the hospital running efficiently Qualifications Reliability and punctuality are essential A friendly, positive, and compassionate attitude Genuine interest in working with animals Previous veterinary or animal-care experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person Ability to safely handle and restrain animals Strong communication and teamwork skills Good attention to detail Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, medication administration, IV catheter placement, or aseptic technique is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.
