Veterinary Assistant

Pachaug Animal Hospital is seeking an organized, enthusiastic and compassionate veterinary assistant to complete our team. Experience is preferred but we're willing to train the right candidate. About Us Pachaug Animal Hospital is an independently owned, one DVM small animal general practice that has been providing health care to the pets of Voluntown and the surrounding communities for over 40 years. We are a small but dynamic practice and each teammate plays an essential role in caring for our patients and educating our clients. Medical technology includes a complete IDEXX in-house lab, digital radiographs, ultrasound, dental radiographs and Midmark Multiparameter Monitor. Helping pets live their best lives is what we do, so appointments are 30 minutes to allow ample time for client education and patient care. We are a fear-free practice and our team takes pride in creating a relaxing and respectful environment for our patients and clients. We're rewarded with an excellent clientele who appreciate the old school blend of quality medicine and personalized care. Our Role Pachaug Animal Hospital is seeking a full time assistant. Primary responsibilities for our successful candidate will include: Answering phones, scheduling appointments and checking clients in/out Assisting the veterinarian while performing examinations Collecting medical history from clients and vital signs from patients Providing nursing care to hospitalized patients Preparing medications for in-hospital treatments and outpatient dispensing Updating patient records Collecting and preparing samples for diagnostic evaluation Ensure a clean, organized and safe environment for patients, clients and staff Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is organized, motivated and compassionate. A positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and a little empathy are required. And, of course, love of animals - enough to embrace spicy cats, poop explosions and the occasional late shift.

Additional requirements include:

At least 1 year of veterinary experience is preferred but not required. We will happily train the right candidate.
