Veterinary Assistant | Washington, DC You're prepping an exam room for a nervous rescue dog's first vet visit, drawing blood between appointments, and by early afternoon you're gently restraining a client's pet rabbit for a quick exam, because at CityPaws, patients come in every size and species. That's a normal day as a Veterinary Assistant at CityPaws Animal Hospital's 14th Street location. About the Practice CityPaws Animal Hospital's 14th Street location has served the U Street and Logan Circle neighborhoods of Washington, DC since 2006. Beyond cats and dogs, the team regularly cares for ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and gerbils, offering wellness care, dental services, diagnostics, and surgery for a genuinely wide range of patients. The hospital's mission centers on high-quality veterinary care delivered in a compassionate, welcoming environment. What You'll Help Make Possible Calm, confident handling that keeps nervous patients (and their people) at ease Accurate diagnostics and lab work that support the veterinary team's decisions A smooth flow of appointments so the hospital runs efficiently even on busy days A wider range of species get the specialized, attentive care they needWhat We're Looking For Required:
1-2 years of experience in a veterinary setting Comfortable assisting with exams, procedures, and daily patient care Strong communication skills with clients and teammatesPreferred:
Experience or interest in handling exotic species Comfortable staying calm and steady during busy stretches Schedule Full-time, Day shift 8-hour shifts Rotating weekends No holiday shifts required Compensation The pay range for this position is $20 to $26 per hour, based on experience and skills.
