Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Small Animal Veterinary Assistant and become a vital part of providing exceptional care for pets and support for our veterinary professionals. Responsibilities Assist veterinary veterinarians with animal examinations, surgeries, and treatments, including medication administration and IV insertions. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, ensuring their comfort and safety during procedures. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by performing thorough cleaning, sanitation, and equipment sterilization to uphold health standards. Support record keeping by accurately documenting patient information, treatment details, and medication logs. Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, and processing payments to ensure excellent client service. Monitor animal behavior and welfare during visits, providing appropriate care and comfort to pets of various species. Qualifications Previous kennel experience or hands-on animal handling background is highly desirable. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or with veterinary technicians is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior enhances your ability to support clinical operations effectively. Skills in dog handling, animal restraint, catheterization, surgery assistance, and medication administration are valuable assets. Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly to ensure safety for yourself and animals. Strong communication skills for engaging with clients professionally while explaining pet care instructions clearly. Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare with a compassionate approach toward pet care and client service.
