Job Description

Job Summary Join Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and enthusiasm for supporting veterinary professionals will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will assist with daily clinical tasks, provide compassionate pet care, and ensure a smooth flow of operations within our busy veterinary clinic. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for both animals and clients, contributing to exceptional veterinary service. This position is also offered to veterinary technicians who want to expand their knowledge base. Their level of initiative and motivation to learn can help earn the position of veterinary technician fairly quickly. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with clinical procedures, including animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection. Provide high-quality animal husbandry and pet care, ensuring animals are comfortable, clean, and well-cared-for during their visit. Handle a variety of exotic animals confidently, including rabbits, reptiles, and some wildlife, utilizing proper animal handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Maintain cleanliness and aseptic techniques in treatment areas, laboratories, and kennels to uphold infection control standards. Support front desk operations by managing appointments, patient records, and client communication with professionalism and enthusiasm. Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample processing and basic diagnostic testing under supervision. Contribute to the overall well-being of animals through knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices. Skills Prior kennel experience combined with animal husbandry skills to manage multiple animals efficiently. Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience that demonstrates familiarity with clinical workflows. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Strong animal handling skills across various species Ability to perform animal restraint safely during examinations or procedures. Experience with medication administration and animal catheterization procedures. Laboratory experience supporting diagnostic testing or sample processing is a plus. Excellent communication skills for front desk duties and client interactions; friendly demeanor is essential. Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
