Veterinary Assistant Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are a multi-location practice with 18 doctors. You would work 4 week days 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and a rotating Saturday from 7:30 am to Noon. The doctor currently looking for an assistant works at both our Melbourne and Melbourne Beach branches. They do exams, dentals, and surgery. The ideal candidate will assist our veterinary staff in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and excellent service to their human caretakers. Duties:
Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol. Assist veterinarian in medical procedures using proper restraint. Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures using proper aseptic technique. Maintain and use medical equipment, laboratory equipment and autoclave. Perform routine laboratory procedures and analyses in hematology, cytology, and urinalysis. Monitor patients under anesthesia. Take vital signs of animals including temperature, pulse, and respiration. Complete ear cleanings and nail trims. Clean maintain and sterilize instruments and equipment. Assist the doctor with dental procedures
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or similar role preferred at least 1 year
  • Proficiency in animal physiology and behavior
  • Knowledge of animal handling techniques and safety protocols
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate attitude towards animals
