Veterinary Assistant (Surgery Focus & Client Care)

Good Care Animal Clinic is a fast-paced, compassionate veterinary practice dedicated to providing high-quality care to our patients and excellent service to our clients. We are looking for a motivated and reliable Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

Position Overview:

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on surgical support and client interaction . The Veterinary Assistant will assist in procedures, support patient care, and communicate clearly with clients in both English and Spanish .

Key Responsibilities:

Surgical & Medical Support:

Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures Must be able to lift and carry 50-80 lbs independently Prepare and maintain sterile surgical areas Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures Clean, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments Assist with patient restraint and handling

Client Care & Communication:

Welcome and check in clients in a friendly, professional manner Clearly explain medications, dosages, and discharge instructions in English and Spanish Answer basic client questions and provide updates on patients Support front desk workflow when needed

Administrative & Record Keeping:

Accurately fill out and update patient charts Enter medical notes, treatments, and prescriptions Maintain organized and complete medical records

General Clinic Duties:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam and treatment areas Assist with stocking supplies and inventory Support team members in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements (Important): Must be able to lift and carry 50-80 lbs independently Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes Able to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment

Qualifications:

Fluent in English and Spanish (required) Previous veterinary experience preferred (assistant or technician) Comfortable assisting in surgery (training available if needed) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and stay organized Compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented Basic computer skills (experience with veterinary software is a plus)
