Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician Assistant / Kennel Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. This role is vital in supporting the daily operations of our veterinary clinic and kennel facilities, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and client service. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent handling skills, and a proactive approach to assisting veterinary professionals. Responsibilities Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring proper restraint and safety protocols. Maintain cleanliness and organization of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites to promote a sterile environment. Provide basic animal husbandry duties including feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animals' health status. Handle a variety of animals including dogs and cats with gentle restraint techniques aligned with veterinary standards. Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and preparation. Manage front desk responsibilities including client communication, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate records. Support veterinary critical care activities by monitoring hospitalized animals and reporting any changes in condition promptly. Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with staff members to ensure seamless clinic operations. Qualifications Previous kennel experience or animal handling background is highly preferred. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures is essential. Experience with medication administration, laboratory work, and veterinary terminology is advantageous. Familiarity with pet care routines, dog handling skills, and pet safety practices is required. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping and task management. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining compassionate care for animals. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with clients and team members.
