Create an Exceptional Stay for Every Pet Veterinary Healthcare Associates (VHA) is seeking a compassionate, dependable Pet Resort Team Member & Veterinary Assistant to care for pets staying on our campus while supporting our General Practice team. The heart of this role is providing exceptional daily care and a safe, clean, comfortable experience for our boarding guests. You'll spend much of your day caring for pets through feeding, walking, enrichment, cleaning, monitoring, and personalized attention while keeping pet parents connected throughout their stay. Because our Pet Resort is part of an integrated veterinary campus, you'll also have the opportunity to develop veterinary assistant skills and support our clinical team with patient care, diagnostics, and hospital operations. What You'll Do Provide attentive daily care for boarding pets, including feeding, fresh water, walks, enrichment, bedding, and comfort Monitor pets throughout their stay and promptly communicate changes in behavior, appetite, comfort, or health Complete boarding intake and discharge processes while helping pets and their families feel welcomed and cared for Provide daily photos and updates to pet parents as directed Perform requested pet-care services such as baths, brushing, and nail trims Maintain clean, sanitary, comfortable kennels, runs, boarding areas, and shared spaces Complete feeding, walking, enrichment, monitoring, and boarding documentation accurately and on time Follow infection prevention, sanitation, biosecurity, and patient safety protocols Assist with hospitalized patient care, including feeding, walking, hygiene, bedding, and comfort Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient handling, restraint, examinations, treatments, and diagnostics Assist with sample collection, laboratory submissions, medication preparation, and routine patient care under appropriate supervision Support client check-in, discharge, and communication as needed Work collaboratively with the Pet Resort, General Practice, and hospital teams to provide an exceptional experience for pets and their families High school diploma or equivalent Experience working professionally with dogs, cats, or other companion animals Confidence safely handling animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and activity levels Strong awareness of animal behavior with the ability to recognize and report changes in a pet's health, comfort, or behavior Ability to provide compassionate, attentive care while managing multiple pets and responsibilities Strong communication, organization, reliability, and attention to detail Ability to work effectively in an active, fast-paced environment Commitment to cleanliness, sanitation, patient safety, and exceptional animal care Compassionate, service-oriented approach to pets, clients, and teammates Preferred Veterinary Assistant Certification (CVA) or formal veterinary assistant training Experience in a veterinary hospital, boarding facility, pet resort, kennel, daycare, shelter, or other professional animal-care environment Experience with enrichment, low-stress handling, bathing, nail trims, or other pet-care services Experience supporting veterinary patient care, diagnostics, or treatments Fear Free Certification and/or Low-Stress Handling experience Interest in developing veterinary assistant skills and growing within veterinary medicine Why Join VHA?
