Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, where your passion for animal care and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this energetic role, you will be the backbone of our kennel operations, ensuring that every animal receives compassionate care, proper handling, and a safe environment. Your dedication will support veterinary professionals in delivering exceptional medical services while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for our furry patients. Responsibilities Provide attentive care and supervision for animals housed in the kennel, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being at all times Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff Administer medications and treatments under veterinary supervision following aseptic techniques and proper protocols Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with laboratory sample collection, sample processing, and basic diagnostic procedures Maintain detailed records of animal care activities, medication administration, and treatment progress in accordance with clinic standards Handle pet intake and discharge at front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and communicating with pet owners Perform cleaning, sanitation, and kennel maintenance to uphold hygiene standards and prevent infection or disease transmission Requirements Prior experience working with animals in a kennel or veterinary setting is
REQUIRED!
Knowledge of animal husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and basic health assessments Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and restraint techniques Experience with dog handling, equine care (if applicable), and animal catheterization is a plus Ability to handle animals safely using appropriate restraint methods while demonstrating patience and compassion Strong understanding of aseptic technique and infection control procedures in a clinical environment Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and pet owners Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting animals or supplies, and cleaning kennels efficiently This role is ideal for individuals eager to grow their career in veterinary medicine or animal care.
