$14.00 - $16.00 / hour Description Barkfield Animal Hospital is a trusted veterinary facility dedicated to providing exceptional pet care through our daycare, boarding, and veterinary services. Our mission is to create a safe, loving environment where pets can thrive. We are currently seeking a passionate full-time Kennel Assistant to join our team of pet care professionals. This role primarily supports our daycare and boarding services, with the opportunity for cross-training as a Client Service Representative (CSR) to assist the front desk team as needed. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in expanding their skills within a veterinary hospital setting. We are looking for two (2) full-time Kennel Assistant with a genuine love for animals, a strong work ethic, and the ability to maintain a clean and sanitary facility. This role requires flexibility, with shifts scheduled between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM , including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities Animal Management:

Safely supervise and care for groups of dogs and cats, ensuring their well-being, safety, and comfort during play and rest periods.

Sanitation Duties:

Maintain a clean and hygienic environment by regularly cleaning kennels, play areas, and common spaces. A significant portion of this role will involve cleaning and sanitation tasks.

Feeding and Basic Care:

Provide proper feeding, watering, and care for all animals, following specific dietary and health protocols set by our veterinary team.

Health Monitoring:

Observe pets for signs of illness or distress and promptly report any concerns to the veterinary staff or management.

Record Keeping:

Assist in maintaining accurate records for each pet's stay, including feeding schedules, health observations, and behavioral notes.

Client Interaction:

Deliver excellent customer service by effectively communicating with pet owners about their pets' needs, behaviors, and well-being. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise to be Successful Previous experience in a kennel, daycare, or veterinary hospital preferred Passion for animal care and commitment to pet safety and well-being Strong work ethic with reliability and dependability High attention to detail, especially in cleaning and sanitation Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Flexible availability required, including weekends and holidays (Spring Break, Easter, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) Reliable transportation
