Veterinary Assistant Gravel Springs Animal Hospital - Dacula, GA Full-Time/Part-time Are you passionate about animals and looking to grow your career in veterinary medicine? Gravel Springs Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We are a fast-paced, privately owned small animal practice that values teamwork, professionalism, and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and technicians in the examination, treatment, and care of patients Administer medications and treatments under veterinarian direction Assist with routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, fecal testing, and dental cleanings Assist in monitoring patients before, during, and after anesthesia and surgical procedures Prepare surgical equipment and assist in the operating room Take and process digital X-rays as needed Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in our practice management software Ensure a clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment area and exam rooms Provide gentle, compassionate handling of pets of all sizes and temperaments Educate pet owners on basic care, medications, and post-treatment instructions Answer phones to schedule appointments and manage the check-in and check-out procedures of patients.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Strong understanding of animal behavior and low-stress handling techniques. Experience with routine veterinary procedures (e.g. vaccinations, sample collection, restraint). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed medical instructions. Reliable, punctual, and able to work well under pressure in a collaborative environment. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or shelter required.
