Dogwood Park Animal Clinic - Grovetown, Georgia Dogwood Park Animal Clinic is looking for a skilled, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. We are a privately and locally owned small animal practice, and clinic culture is extremely important to us . We believe excellent patient care starts with a team that communicates well, respects one another, works hard, and genuinely enjoys working together. We are looking for someone who brings both technical ability and the right attitude to the practice. At Dogwood Park, our support staff are an integral part of the medical team. We believe in utilizing team members to the greatest extent of their training, skills, and abilities. Our assistants are expected to be active participants in patient care—not simply hold animals and clean rooms. About Us Dogwood Park Animal Clinic is a privately and locally owned small animal practice in Grovetown, Georgia. We provide comprehensive medical, surgical, dental, and preventative care while maintaining the personal relationships that make private veterinary practice special. Our hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including: IDEXX in-house laboratory equipment Digital radiography Ultrasound Companion therapy laser Electrocautery Vessel sealer Electronic medical records and cloud-based practice management software As our practice grows into a two-doctor hospital, we are looking for the right person to grow with us. What You'll Do Veterinary Assistants at Dogwood Park are involved throughout the patient's visit and may be responsible for: Obtaining accurate patient histories and communicating client concerns to the veterinarian Assisting with appointments and maintaining efficient patient flow Proper animal restraint and low-stress handling Collecting blood, urine, fecal, and other diagnostic samples based on training and competency Performing in-house laboratory testing Preparing samples for reference laboratory submission Assisting with digital radiographs Preparing patients for surgical and dental procedures Setting up and maintaining surgical and treatment areas Assisting with anesthesia and patient monitoring within the individual's demonstrated training and abilities Monitoring hospitalized and recovering patients Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian and as permitted by law Maintaining accurate medical records Filling medications and assisting with prescription requests Educating clients on veterinarian-recommended medications, preventatives, treatments, and home-care instructions Maintaining appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and infection-control standards Restocking treatment areas and maintaining medical supplies Helping wherever needed to keep the hospital running efficiently Responsibilities are assigned based on training, demonstrated competency, and applicable Georgia veterinary regulations . We encourage our assistants to learn, improve, and take ownership of their role in patient care. Team members who demonstrate competency may be given increasing responsibilities appropriate to their position and training. At the same time, we take patient safety seriously. Being skilled also means knowing your limitations, asking questions when necessary, following established protocols, and being receptive to feedback. We aren't looking for someone who knows everything. We are looking for someone who wants to be excellent at what they do. What We're Looking For Previous veterinary experience is strongly preferred , particularly for candidates seeking to enter the position at an advanced skill level. We are especially interested in applicants who are already comfortable with skills such as: Venipuncture IV catheter placement Proper patient restraint Laboratory sample collection and processing Digital radiography Surgical preparation Anesthesia monitoring Medication administration Medical terminology and veterinary record keeping We understand that applicants will have different strengths and experience levels. Skills can be taught and developed, but applicants must demonstrate reliability, good judgment, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to work well within a team. Schedule Our doctors see appointments and procedures Tuesday through Friday .

7:30 AM - 4:00
PM Wednesday & Friday:
7:30 AM - 3:00
PM Saturday & Sunday:
Closed Occasional additional hours may be necessary for meetings, training, patient care, or other hospital needs.
