Kennel / Veterinary Assistant Animal Health Services, Inc., is seeking a responsible and motivated Animal Care specialist for a full-time position. Are you this person?? We want to meet you! We are a busy, high quality full service Veterinary company, offering boarding and grooming services, with clinics in Marietta and Powder Springs. We are looking for individuals that work well in team and individual environments, have a strong desire to learn, and take pride in their work by supporting and creating a positive environment. Previous experience in a kennel boarding setting is preferred but willing to hire and train the right individual. Individuals must be very punctual have flexible schedules, able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must have reliable transportation. Must have strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, work well in a fast passed and busy environment. Must be in good physical condition and able to lift 50 lbs regularly. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and be on your feet for several hours at a time.
Position Summary:
Kennel
- walking and feeding pets, cleaning entire facility and grounds, laundry, performs other duties as assigned. Grooming
- Assisting groomer as needed, bathing pets, general ear cleansing, nail trims/grinds, internal anal gland expression. Veterinary Assistant
- Administer medication, retrieve fecal samples, suture removal, fluid therapy, assist Technician's and Doctor's as needed, document diagnostic results and update patient records. Assist clients in and out of exam rooms and parking lot. Prepare vaccinations and materials for exams. Perform intestinal parasite/fecal screenings. Fill medications prescribed by Doctor's. Communication/Record keeping
- Answer phone quickly and in a friendly helpful manner.
Take complete and accurate messages. Record patient histories and treatment. Accurately relays patient information and educates clients, regarding services, products, foods, surgical procedures, and treatments. Post and record payments, receive payments. We are a Drug Free Workplace and applicants may be asked to pass a pre-employment drug screen. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated with infected, debilitated and ill animals; will be responsible for cleaning body fluids including urine, feces, and vomit; exposure to bites and scratches; possible exposure to contagious diseases.
