+ Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC) is hiring experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our 24/7 Emergency & Specialty hospital in Honolulu. This is a great opportunity for a Vet Assistant or veterinary professional looking to build advanced technical skills while working alongside Emergency Veterinarians, Specialty clinicians, Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), Veterinary Technicians, and experienced support teams. Depending on your skills and experience, opportunities may be available across Emergency & Critical Care (ER/ECC), ICU, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and other Specialty services. What You Bring Previous hands-on experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Vet Assistant, Veterinary Technician, Vet Tech, or other veterinary clinical support professional. Experience with patient restraint, animal handling, nursing care, and hospitalized patients. Technical experience with venipuncture, sample collection, IV catheter placement or assistance, medication administration, and patient monitoring preferred. Emergency Veterinary, ER, ECC, ICU, Critical Care, Specialty, Surgery, Internal Medicine, or high-volume general practice experience is a plus. Anesthesia, sedation, surgical assisting, diagnostic imaging, or advanced patient care experience is a plus. Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Interest in continuing to develop advanced veterinary nursing and technical skills. Veterinary Technician or RVT credentialing is not required for this Veterinary Assistant position. In Your Day-to-Day, You Will Support Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and RVTs with hands-on patient care, treatments, and procedures. Provide safe restraint, patient handling, and nursing support for Emergency and Specialty patients. Assist with venipuncture, sample collection, IV catheter placement, medications, and diagnostic testing based on training and experience. Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team. Assist with Emergency, Critical Care, Specialty, and procedural patient care. Prepare patients, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for diagnostics and procedures. Support patient flow and collaborate across ER, ICU, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and other hospital services. Maintain accurate patient information and clean, organized clinical areas.
