Veterinary Assistant and Technician

Job Description

Big Island Pet Care Center has been part of the Puna community for more than 30 years, with a convenient location based in Hawaiian Paradise Park. Our team works alongside pet owners to help educate and to provide the best possible care for their ohana. We take pride in offering an environment where clients and patients can expect to be greeted by a courteous receptionist, clean exam rooms, friendly doctors, and caring technicians. The Big Island Pet Care Center team is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team of dedicated animal healthcare professionals. As a Vet Assistant at Big Island Pet Care Center, you will work closely with our veterinarians and technicians to provide exceptional care to our patients and their owners.
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians with animal exams, surgeries, and other medical procedures Assist with administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians Assist with diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and radiography Educate clients on animal care, nutrition, and disease prevention Monitor patients during and after medical procedures and report any changes in their condition Maintain medical records and ensure accuracy and completeness Maintain a clean and organized work environment Consistent medical support team performance and individual job satisfaction. Follow clinic standards of hygiene & sterilization for all patient areas, tools, & equipment.
Requirements:
1+ years of Veterinary Technician or Assistant experience. Open availability, including weekends and overnight Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Must be reliable and punctual
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
