In this energetic role, you will ensure the well-being, safety, and comfort of animals staying with us, while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. Your enthusiasm for animal care and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for pets and their owners alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with animals, develop your veterinary and animal handling skills, and contribute to a compassionate team dedicated to animal welfare. Hours required are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4 PM to 7 PM and every other weekend 8 AM to 9:30 AM and 4 PM to 7 PM. The weekend is a split shift. (More hours will be available once we are in our new building) Responsibilities Provide daily care and supervision for animals in boarding kennels, including feeding, watering, exercise, and cleaning Monitor animals' health and behavior, promptly reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or supervisors Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments using proper techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with procedures such as IV insertion, catheterization, medication administration, and laboratory sample collection Maintain accurate records of animal intake, discharge, medications administered, and other relevant documentation Ensure kennel areas are sanitized using aseptic techniques to prevent infection and promote animal health Handle pet owners' questions professionally at the front desk and assist with check-in/check-out processes Experience Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred; experience working in veterinary clinics or animal shelters is highly valued Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures such as medication administration and laboratory work Experience with dog handling, animal restraint techniques, equine care (if applicable), and pet care best practices Familiarity with surgical procedures or veterinary critical care is a plus but not required Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and follow aseptic protocols diligently Strong understanding of animal behavior, restraint methods, and safety procedures in handling diverse species including dogs, cats, and horses if applicable Join us in creating a safe haven where animals feel loved and cared for!
