Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced and rewarding environment where you can make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners.Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, procedures, and surgeries
- Provide animal care, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinary staff
- Be proficient in obtaining and running laboratory tests, such as bloodwork and urinalysis
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic
- Handle animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Assist with client communication, including answering phone calls and scheduling appointments
Skills:
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
- Experience in animal care
- Ability to handle animal restraint safely and effectively
- Understanding of aseptic technique for maintaining a sterile environment
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and veterinary staff
- Knowledge of pet care, including nutrition, exercise, and behavior
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant (1 year minimum)
- Must have a genuine love for animals and a desire to provide excellent care
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Must work well with others and support a positive team based culture
Job Type:
