Northshore Animal Care in Des Plaines is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Technician. A progressive and patient-focused veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our clinical team. The ideal candidate is a motivated, compassionate professional with strong technical skills and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care and excellent client service. Position Overview The Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in supporting veterinarians with medical procedures, patient care, and client communication. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and capable of performing a wide range of technical and nursing duties. Minimum Qualifications At least 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a clinical veterinary setting Veterinary technician certification/licensure preferred (CVT, RVT, or LVT depending on state regulations) Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and patient care procedures Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to multitask and maintain efficiency in a busy hospital environment Compassionate approach toward animals and their owners Technical Skills and Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement Monitor and manage anesthesia during surgical and dental procedures Obtain and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, cytology, fecal tests) Perform radiography and imaging procedures Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian Maintain accurate and detailed medical records Provide client education regarding medications, post-operative care, and preventive medicine Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment Desired Attributes Strong attention to detail and patient advocacy Professional demeanor with excellent client communication skills Ability to remain calm and organized in emergency situations Positive attitude and collaborative approach with team members Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package based on experience, which may include: Competitive hourly wage Paid time off Continuing education opportunities Employee pet care discounts Supportive team environment and opportunities for professional growth
