Job Description

  • Higher pay-rate offered to candidates with appropriate level of education and/or experience in Vet Med
  • We are currently looking to hire a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician to work at our clinic in Effingham, Illinois.
The duties may include, but are not limited to: assisting with surgery, assisting with appointments, and rotating after-hours emergency. Our clinic focuses on a strong emphasis on personal growth and development. The perfect candidate would be someone with a positive, go-getter attitude that is looking to better their skills as a veterinary professional. This position would start off at $16/hr (higher pay rate offered for appropriate level of education and/or experience in vet med) and would average at 35-40 hours per week. Shifts start at 7:30am and we close at 6pm. We are closed on weekends.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist doctor in surgical procedures
  • Assist doctor in appointments
  • Assisting in surgery
  • Restraining animals
  • 1 night per week + 1 weekend per month of after hours emergency & critical care (training will be provided first for inexperienced candidates & higher pay will be provided for these services)
  • Interacting w/ clients, answering questions Qualifications
  • Veterinary Clinic or Medical Clinic experience preferred
  • Veterinary Technician/ Veterinary Assistant Degree preferred
  • Team mentality and ability to work and react accordingly in high stress situations
  • Ability to lift up to 30-40lbs without assistance
