Job Description

Veterinary Assistant - Sandwich Veterinary Hospital Are you a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment? Sandwich Veterinary Hospital is a three-doctor practice offering comprehensive general care, surgical services, dentistry, and wellness care for pets. We're looking for a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our medical team! At SVH, Veterinary Assistants are an essential part of patient care. You'll work closely with our veterinarians to deliver high-quality medical support while ensuring every patient receives attentive, compassionate treatment from intake through recovery. What You'll Do
  • Provide skilled nursing care and support for hospitalized patients
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical and dental procedures
  • Collect diagnostic samples, including bloodwork and laboratory testing
  • Obtain high-quality digital radiographs
  • Maintain accurate medical records and assist with treatment planning
  • Communicate clearly with clients about procedures, aftercare, and patient updates
  • Respond quickly and confidently in medical situations while supporting the entire care team What We're Looking For
  • Previous veterinary experience required
  • Certification preferred but not required
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, and laboratory procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy clinical environment
  • A positive attitude and genuine passion for veterinary medicine
  • Part-time or Full-time availability The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care while contributing to a collaborative, supportive team culture.
