Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at a busy veterinary clinic. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including oral, topical, and injectable medications. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including surgical areas, examination rooms, and laboratory spaces. Provide front desk support by greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records. Conduct basic laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis under supervision. Monitor animal behavior and health status during visits to ensure proper care is provided. Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-treatment care. Requirements Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred but not mandatory. Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to assist in medical procedures effectively. Proficiency in animal handling techniques to ensure safe interactions with various species. Familiarity with medication administration protocols and veterinary terminology is advantageous. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
