Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician, where your passion for animal care and veterinary medicine will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. You will play a vital role in supporting veterinary professionals by providing exceptional animal care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for every pet and client who walks through our doors. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures, ensuring proper animal restraint and handling. Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, bathing, and maintaining a clean clinic environment using proper PPE to ensure safety and hygiene standards. Support laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and basic testing to aid in accurate diagnosis. Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections following aseptic techniques while monitoring patient responses. Handle front desk responsibilities including client communication, appointment scheduling, record keeping, and managing pet care instructions. Conduct animal behavior assessments and provide compassionate pet care to promote animal welfare and comfort. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files accurately, and assist with inventory management of supplies and medications. Qualifications Proven kennel experience combined with veterinary technician or assistant experience in a clinical setting. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Hands-on experience with IV insertion, catheterization, medication administration, and laboratory procedures. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, equine and farm animals is a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with clients about pet health needs while demonstrating professionalism and empathy. Familiarity with front desk operations such as record keeping, appointment scheduling, and client interactions. Commitment to animal welfare through diligent cleaning routines, use of PPE, and adherence to safety protocols.
