Position Overview:
The specialty liaison technician performs a variety of behind-the-scenes duties to ensure quality pet and client care. The specialty liaison position is designed to provide our clients with veterinary support from pre-consultation, hospitalization, discharge, and post-visit care. The liaison will follow-up with specialty clients to see how the pets are doing at home and to ensure the patients do not need additional medical attention. The liaison is also available to answer medical related questions for clients that may arise before appointments and procedures or after discharge. The liaison works closely with the specialty departments to ensure the best outcome for all patients and clients. The liaison must be computer savvy and will be able to navigate through the paperless computer system at BSVESS. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of veterinary medicine and specialty practices.
Description Specialty Liaison:
Phone triage of potential patients Coordinate specialists' schedules for consultation appointments, recheck appointments, and procedures/surgeries Create patient care estimates for each procedure Communicate with clients pre-appointments/procedures and post discharge Create invoices and enter charges for appointments Relay pertinent information to client at time of discharge Obtain medical records from primary care veterinarians Understands classification of commonly-used medications and associated side effects Fill prescriptions Call prescription orders into outside pharmacies Provide daily updates to clients on specialty service inpatients and facilitate patient/client visits Assist the specialty technicians with appointments as needed Assist the specialty technicians with inventory and ordering as needed Ideal candidate: Compassion and love of animals Excellent communication skills Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to prioritize and multitask Superior client service skills Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
Job Requirements:
Tech school graduate or at least 2 years recent experience in veterinary practice Excellent interpersonal communications skills High school diploma or GED Veterinary Technician certification is preferred
