Duties Provide daily care for animals housed in kennels, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring their health status. Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal handling during examinations, treatments, and procedures such as medication administration, IV insertions, and restraint. Maintain detailed records of animal behavior, medical treatments, and kennel activities to ensure accurate documentation. Support infection control protocols by cleaning kennels, equipment, and treatment areas using proper aseptic techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE). Help with laboratory tasks such as sample collection or processing when needed to support diagnostic work. Communicate effectively with clients about pet care instructions and updates on their animals' well-being. Contribute to the overall safety of the clinic by adhering to animal restraint procedures and ensuring proper use of PPE at all times. Experience Previous kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience working in a veterinary clinic or shelter setting is highly valued. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal husbandry practices, and basic medical procedures such as medication administration or catheterization is advantageous. Familiarity with pet care routines including feeding schedules, behavior assessment, and record keeping enhances your effectiveness in this role. Experience with front desk duties or client communication is a plus but not required; excellent interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to handle a variety of animals safely and confidently while demonstrating compassion and patience. Prior exposure to laboratory procedures or surgical assistance can be beneficial but is not mandatory; willingness to learn new skills is important.
