Highway Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate, experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. With a new veterinarian joining the practice, we are expanding into a thriving three-doctor hospital and are looking for someone who is excited to learn, contribute, and grow alongside a collaborative and experienced team. Schedule Full-Time Position (35-40 hours per week)
Required Availability:
Mondays and Fridays Primarily morning/opening shifts
Schedule Options:
Five 8-hour shifts per week, or Four 10-hour shifts per week Hospital Hours Monday -
Friday:
7:00 AM - 6:00
PM Saturday & Sunday:
Closed Enjoy every weekend off! What You'll Be Doing This position is heavily focused on patient care and client communication.
Responsibilities include:
Running appointments alongside veterinarians Collecting patient histories Discussing vaccines and preventive care with pet owners Presenting treatment plans for sick patients Educating clients on medical recommendations Assisting with diagnostics and treatments Animal restraint and patient handling Supporting the medical team throughout the day Qualifications Preferred Skills Proficiency with canine and feline venipuncture Knowledge of IV catheter placement Experience administering vaccines Strong animal restraint and handling skills, including fractious or aggressive patients Knowledge of vaccine protocols and preventive care Confidence communicating medical recommendations to clients Positive attitude and strong team-player mentality Don't meet every qualification? Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
