Job Overview VivaVets Animal Hospital is a growing urgent care and surgical veterinary practice in Columbia, MD, caring exclusively for dogs and cats. We focus on higher-acuity medicine, surgery, dental procedures, and urgent care, rather than routine wellness, so our team is engaged in real, meaningful clinical work every shift. We're hiring for multiple roles: Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Client Care Coordinators. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures (soft tissue, orthopedic, and dental), ensuring proper handling and restraint of dogs and cats Perform diagnostics including bloodwork, imaging, and dental radiographs Monitor anesthesia, vital signs, and post-op recovery, and administer medications as directed Support urgent and emergent cases with accurate, timely documentation Greet and coordinate with clients, especially during urgent, high-stress moments, with warmth and clarity Manage scheduling, check-in, billing, and communication between clients and clinical staff Maintain a clean, organized, and safe treatment area, following proper PPE and disinfection protocols Skills & Qualifications Experience in veterinary care, urgent care, or client service; urgent care/ER experience is a strong plus but not required RVT/LVT credential welcomed for technician roles, but not mandatory, we consider experience and aptitude Comfortable and confident handling dogs and cats using proper restraint techniques Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures such as surgical support, catheterization, IV placement, and medication administration is a plus Strong communicator with genuine compassion for animals and their owners Calm, dependable, and organized, able to manage both hands-on clinical work and clear client communication Genuinely interested in growing with the practice long-term This role is a great fit for someone who wants real clinical experience and a stable, close-knit team where their work is seen and valued, not lost in a big chain.
