Job Description
Veterinary Assistant Key Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and treatments Safely restrain and handle animals during procedures Prepare exam rooms, surgical areas, and medical equipment Clean and sanitize kennels, treatment areas, and hospital spaces Feed, walk, and monitor hospitalized patients Maintain accurate patient records and treatment logs Assist with laboratory sample collection and processing Stock supplies and organize inventory Provide excellent customer service to clients in person and over the phone Support front desk and administrative tasks as needed Qualifications Previous experience working with animals preferred, but not required Interest in veterinary medicine and animal care Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically active environment Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and compassionate in stressful situations Willingness to learn and follow clinic protocols and safety procedures Preferred Qualifications Experience in a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, kennel, or pet daycare Basic knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques Enrollment in or completion of a veterinary assistant or technician program is a plus Benefits Competitive pay Employee discounts on veterinary services and pet products Flexible scheduling Opportunities for career advancement within the veterinary field
