Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a genuine love for animals. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals. Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including oral, topical, and injectable forms. Provide basic care, including monitoring vital signs and recognizing signs of distress in animals. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennel areas and examination rooms. Handle laboratory samples for testing and perform basic laboratory procedures as needed. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client communications as required. Assist with animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals in our care. Qualifications Previous veterinary assistant experience or veterinary clinic experience is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care is essential. Experience with animal handling techniques, including dog and cat handling Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A background in laboratory procedures or veterinary assistant experience is beneficial but not required. General pet care knowledge is advantageous for this role.
