Job Description
We are a rapidly growing, privately owned, 4-doctor, small animal and exotic veterinary practice in the new Greenleigh development. We seek a highly skilled Veterinary Technician/Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Our practice is growing and we need another team member with good customer service skills to grow with us! We strive for a welcoming, team-approached work environment, with a focus on work-life balance. Experience with exotic animals is preferred. If no exotics experience, must be open to learning about and being in close proximity to exotic animals such as birds, reptiles, and ferrets. Responsibilities include ( but are not limited to ): Animal restraint for procedures Position for xrays - dental and standard Surgical / anesthesia monitoring Dental cleanings Patient care for hospitalized pets Surgical discharge instructions Client education Set up for appointments Process laboratory samples Operate in-house laboratory equipment Prescription processing Answer phones Field client questions Answer emails/faxes etc Process payment transactions Maintain organization and cleanliness of the office space Knowledge of hospital policies and philosophies Assist veterinarians and receptionists as needed Necessary Skills include: Animal restraint (able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted) Anesthesia monitoring Proper x-ray positioning technique Dental cleanings Medicine administration Ability to handle multi-line phone systems. Computer skills are required, as we are a paperless business, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to technological advances. Ability to communicate clearly with staff and clients Ability to prioritize multiple tasks Positive attitude and willingness to learn, self-motivated "YES" person Attention to detail and cleanliness Enthusiasm for working with both animals and their families Desire/willingness to participate in community activities with the team outside of work
