Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Tech assistant and become a vital part of delivering exceptional animal care. In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians in providing comprehensive medical treatment, perform technical procedures, and ensure the well-being of a diverse range of animals. Your expertise in animal handling, laboratory work, and veterinary terminology will help create a compassionate and efficient environment where animals receive top-quality care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your skills in a fast-paced setting dedicated to improving animal health and happiness. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff, utilizing your knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses. Manage pet care routines including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery. Take and develop X-ray images while ensuring proper animal positioning and safety protocols are followed. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and oral examinations. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files with treatment notes, and communicate effectively with team members regarding patient status. Handle animal catheterization, pet grooming, dog training, and other specialized tasks to enhance overall animal well-being. Assist with equine care when applicable, including handling large animals safely during examinations or treatments. Uphold high standards of animal husbandry by ensuring clean environments, proper nutrition, and appropriate housing conditions. Qualifications Proven kennel experience along with strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and horses. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices. Hands-on veterinary technician experience with proficiency in laboratory procedures and X-ray techniques. Familiarity with pet grooming, dog training, pet grooming tools, and pet care routines. Ability to perform animal restraint safely using proper techniques for different species. Experience with aseptic techniques during surgical or diagnostic procedures to prevent infection. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within a veterinary team and educate pet owners. A valid certification or license as a veterinary technician is preferred but not mandatory; relevant veterinary experience will be highly valued. $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
