Veterinary Assistant and Technician Hollis, ME 04042 Part-time Part-time Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, provide compassionate pet care, and ensure the highest standards of animal handling and safety. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your veterinary skills while working in a fast-paced, supportive environment dedicated to animal health and well-being. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing animal restraint techniques, dog training skills, and animal handling experience to minimize stress for pets. Perform laboratory tasks such as collecting samples, preparing slides, and processing tests to support diagnostic efforts. Take X-ray images with proper positioning, ensuring accurate results while adhering to safety protocols. Skills Proven kennel experience with the ability to manage multiple animals in a busy environment. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology Experience with dog handling, pet grooming, pet care routines, and animal restraint techniques. Familiarity with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing. Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices including catheterization and aseptic techniques. Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and accurately interpret basic imaging results. Excellent animal handling skills including dogs, and cats.
