Job description: We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant who is passionate about excellent patient care, clear communication, teamwork, and meaningful veterinary medicine. About the Role This team member will support the medical team in several important areas of the hospital, depending on experience and skill level. Patient Care & Doctor Support In this role, you help provide safe, compassionate, high-quality care for patients while supporting the doctor and medical team.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting doctors with appointments, exams, treatments, and procedures Obtaining patient histories and communicating concerns clearly to the medical team Safely and compassionately handling dogs and cats Preparing patients, supplies, rooms, and equipment for exams and treatments Assisting with medication preparation, sample collection, diagnostics, and treatment plans Maintaining clean, stocked, organized exam rooms and treatment areas Helping maintain accurate and complete medical records Communicating patient needs clearly between doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service team members Technical Skills & Procedure Support Depending on experience and training, this role may also include: Venipuncture IV catheter placement In-house laboratory testing Radiology positioning and assistance Surgical preparation and scrubbing in Anesthesia monitoring Dentistry support Patient recovery and post-procedure care Medication administration Client education and discharge communication We understand that not every assistant has the same skill set. Client Education & Communication Excellent veterinary care includes helping clients understand what their pet needs and why it matters.
Responsibilities may include:
Reviewing treatment plans, medications, estimates and home care instructions with clients Helping clients understand next steps after appointments, procedures, or diagnostics Communicating clearly, kindly, and professionally through multiple avenues - phone calls, texting, and email Supporting and carrying out strong follow-up communication with clients Helping clients feel informed, respected, and confident in their pet's care The right person for this position will be expected to help live out our hospital values in practical, everyday ways.
