We are looking for someone reliable, friendly and motivated. We are located on the border of Ferndale and Detroit. We see clients and patients from all of the surrounding areas. We were established in 1928 and are proud to service clients and pets with thorough and compassionate care at a reasonable price. We are well equipped with newer surgical equipment, dental machine, digital xray, Idexx inhouse blood machines and Idexx outside labs. We are currently a one Doctor practice so you will be working alongside the Doctor. You will be able to use your skills and you can add some new skills too. We are currently working four 12- hour shifts with a one- hour unpaid lunch when possible. We are also working the first Saturday of each month approximately 6 hours. We start at 8:45 am and the veterinary assistants set up the practice for the day. Duties include reviewing the chart and knowing the reason for the visit, obtaining the medical history and presenting the information to the Doctor. Restraining for the Doctor to perform the exam, drawing up vaccines and medications and administering them under Dr. supervision. Obtaining blood samples from cats and dogs. Engaging with clients and pets in a calm and caring manner. Assisting in pharmacy to fill medications and go over them with clients. Checking clients out at the end of the appointment. Assisting in surgery, drug calculations, monitoring anesthesia and post op. Intubation and IV catheter placement. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, be able to stand for long hours, and take radiographs. Helping with inventory. Closing down the practice for the day including cleaning. Additional daily maintenance organization and cleaning also required. Assisting and restraining for other team members. Assisting client services with answering phones.
