Veterinary Kennel Assistant (Full-Time or Part-Time) Northside Veterinary Hospital - Hillsdale, Michigan Veterinary Kennel Assistant | Animal Care | Veterinary Hospital | Full-Time or Part-Time Northside Veterinary Hospital, a privately owned, AAHA-accredited, four-doctor small animal practice in Hillsdale, Michigan, is hiring full-time or part-time Veterinary Kennel Assistant . This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for animal care , whether you have previous experience as a kennel attendant, animal care, pet care specialist, dog daycare attendant, veterinary assistant , or are looking to begin a career in veterinary medicine. If you are dependable, compassionate, hardworking, and enjoy caring for dogs and cats, we'd love to hear from you.
We are currently hiring:
    Full-Time:
    32-40 hours per week
      Part-Time:
      Up to 30 hours per week Weekend and holiday shifts are required and are shared among the kennel staff. The typical weekday schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. , with some scheduling flexibility. Responsibilities As a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, you will provide exceptional care for our hospitalized patients while helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming veterinary hospital.
      Responsibilities include:
      • Caring for hospitalized dogs and cats
      • Safely handling and restraining pets using low-stress handling techniques
      • Walking, feeding, and monitoring animals throughout the day
      • Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, runs, treatment areas, and hospital facilities
      • Performing laundry and maintaining a clean, organized hospital environment
      • Monitoring pets for signs of illness, lameness, vomiting, diarrhea, or other changes and reporting concerns to the medical team
      • Bathing patients as directed
      • Assisting veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and customer service representatives
      • Maintaining high standards of sanitation, infection control, and patient care Qualifications The ideal candidate will:
      • Be at least 18 years of age
      • Have a genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being
      • Be friendly, dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
      • Work well independently and as part of a team
      • Be comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
      • Be able to lift at least 50 pounds
      • Have reliable transportation
      • Follow directions with or without supervision
      • Communicate professionally with coworkers and clients
      • Be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays Previous experience in animal care is preferred but not required.
      Experience working in a veterinary hospital, or other animal care setting is a plus. We are happy to train motivated individuals who have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
