Veterinary Assistant West Bloomfield Veterinary Hospital - Keego Harbor, MI 48320 Full-Time / Part-Time | Privately Owned Small Animal Hospital About Us West Bloomfield Veterinary Hospital (WBVH) is a privately owned, small animal clinic dedicated to delivering top-tier medical care through a compassionate, client-centered approach. Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. In this role, you will support our veterinary staff, interact closely with clients, and provide hands-on care to ensure the highest level of patient health and comfort.
Primary Responsibilities Patient Care:
Safely restrain animals for exams, blood draws, and medical procedures.
Medical Support:
Administer medications, vaccines, and fluids under veterinary supervision.
Diagnostics & Pharmacy:
Fill and label prescriptions; run urinalyses and other routine in-house lab tests.
Client Communication:
Manage client intake, obtain accurate patient histories, and provide clear client education.
Documentation:
Maintain, update, and organize accurate electronic patient medical records in a timely manner.
Clinic Maintenance:
Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels clean, sanitized, and well-stocked.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
1+ years of experience in the veterinary field is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer literacy and comfort learning veterinary practice management software.
Professionalism:
Maintains a positive attitude, professional appearance, and mature approach to daily duties.
Teamwork:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating seamlessly across all hospital departments.
Adaptability:
Proven ability to multi-task, stay calm, and remain efficient in a fast-paced, high-stress medical environment.
