In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and pet owners by assisting with medical procedures, animal handling, and client communication. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure our patients receive top-quality care in a compassionate environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across a broad spectrum of veterinary services, from routine pet care to emergency medicine. Responsibilities Assist with animal restraint, handling, and positioning for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures. Prepare and maintain surgical areas, including sterilization of instruments and aseptic technique during surgeries. Perform laboratory work such as phlebotomy, diagnostic sample collection, and processing using veterinary laboratory equipment. Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, including general anesthesia and veterinary anesthesia monitoring techniques. Operate medical equipment like X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and dental units while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Administer medications accurately via IV insertion, animal catheterization, or other routes as directed by veterinarians. Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, assisting with IV access, vascular access procedures, and critical & intensive care management. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software for patient history, treatments, laboratory results, and radiology diagnostics. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding treatment plans, medication instructions, and post-procedure care. Skills Proven animal handling expertise across various species. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary surgical procedures. Experience with dental terminology and assisting in dental procedures. Skilled in laboratory techniques such as phlebotomy and laboratory work relevant to diagnostic testing. Familiarity with radiology diagnostics including X-ray operation. Ability to perform anesthesiology tasks including general anesthesia administration and monitoring vital signs during procedures. Strong client communication skills to educate pet owners on pet care needs effectively. Experience with veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling.
