About the Role Are you passionate about animal care and looking to make a difference every day? We're looking for a reliable, compassionate Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional care to our patients. In this role, you'll assist with patient care, prepare treatment and exam areas, support medical procedures, perform basic laboratory tasks under supervision, and help ensure our hospital runs smoothly. You'll also play an important part in creating a welcoming experience for clients while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment for both pets and staff. What You'll Do Patient Care Safely handle and restrain animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures. Observe patients for changes in behavior, appetite, or overall condition and communicate concerns to the veterinary team. Assist with the daily care of hospitalized patients, including feeding, walking, and providing comfort. Medical Support Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites for appointments and procedures. Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams, surgeries, diagnostics, and treatments. Collect laboratory samples, perform basic in-house testing, and record results under appropriate supervision. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinary team. Client Service Help educate pet owners by reviewing discharge instructions, medications, and home care recommendations. Answer general client questions and direct medical concerns to a veterinarian or veterinary technician when appropriate. Clinic Operations Maintain accurate medical records and assist with updating patient charts. Follow hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection control procedures. Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready for use. Properly dispose of medical waste and sharps according to established protocols. Teamwork Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide outstanding patient care. Participate in team meetings, training opportunities, and continuing education as requested. Help create a positive, respectful, and compassionate workplace for coworkers, clients, and patients. Schedule Monday-Friday 7:45 AM - 5:00
PM Pay:
$14.00 - $19.00 per hour
