Job Description

Como Park Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for a Full-Time position. We are part of a privately-owned 24-hour AAHA-accredited animal hospital, which provides primary care during the days (8-8 Mon-Sunday), and urgent/emergency care evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays. Patients are dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets and some exotics.

Entry DUTIES Our Veterinary Assstants Care for patients while they stay in the hospital and boarding facility - feed, walk, change out kennels and more Keep the hospital clean and sanitary Assist Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with appointments and procedures Restrain patients for medical procedures Intake patients to our boarding facility Assist Client Service Representatives with answering phones and scheduling appointments when needed And more!
REQUIREMENTS
You must: Have at least 1 year of veterinary work experience Be able to work independently and in a team Have attention to detail, especially cleaning Have basic cat and dog handling & restraint skills Be able and willing to work some evening & weekend shifts Be able to lift 35 lbs., to be on your feet for hours at a time, and spend a good amount of time in front of a computer screen Have good communication skills and be able to think on your feet in unusual situations Come with a smile! As a plus, it would be great if you: Have Cornerstone experience, or other veterinary Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Have exotics care / handling experience
WORK DETAILS
Hours will consist of some weekday shifts (7am-3pm), evenings (1pm-9pm) and some weekend shifts (Saturdays and Sundays, 7am-3pm and 12p-8p). Some holidays will be required (most hours qualify for holiday pay). Pay range for assistants starts at $17/hour with consideration for experience and scheduled shifts. Shift differential for weekend hours available.
