Are you passionate about animals and looking to start or grow your career in veterinary medicine? Lee's Summit Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, hardworking, and dependable Kennel Technician to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in keeping things clean and organized, and is dedicated to providing exceptional care for our patients. As a Kennel Technician, you'll play an important role in supporting our veterinary team by ensuring our hospitalized patients receive excellent care while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment.
Responsibilities include:
Provide compassionate daily care for hospitalized patients, including feeding, walking, and ensuring fresh water is always available. Clean, disinfect, and maintain patient cages, runs, and kennel areas throughout the day. Help keep the entire hospital clean and organized, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and restrooms. Safely restrain animals when needed. Transfer patients between housing areas as directed. Read and follow patient treatment sheets and special care instructions. Monitor patient behavior and promptly communicate any concerns to the veterinary technicians or veterinarians. Wash, dry, fold, and organize hospital laundry, including towels and bedding. Stock hospital supplies and help maintain an efficient work environment. Work collaboratively with the veterinary team to ensure outstanding patient care. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, and enjoys working with both animals and people.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous kennel or animal care experience is preferred but not required—we are willing to train the right candidate. Basic knowledge of veterinary medicine is a plus. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Strong communication and customer service skills. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; Avimark experience is a plus). Ability to read and follow treatment instructions. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols. Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills. Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Willingness to learn and grow. Weekend availability is required.
