Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional animal care and client service. Whether assisting with routine pet care or supporting critical care cases, you'll be at the forefront of compassionate animal treatment, making a positive difference in the lives of pets and their owners every day. Responsibilities Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal handling, restraint, and care during examinations, surgeries, and treatments Perform animal husbandry duties including feeding, cleaning kennels, and maintaining a hygienic clinic environment Support surgical procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and assisting with anesthesia and medication administration Handle pet care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and monitoring behavior to ensure comfort and safety Manage record keeping accurately for patient histories, treatment logs, medication administration, and client communication Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, and processing payments Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, surgical suites, and equipment using proper PPE (personal protective equipment) protocols Skills Proven kennel experience combined with veterinary clinic experience to ensure high standards of animal care and hygiene Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, and equines; knowledge of animal behavior for safe restraint and restraint techniques Experience with IV insertion, catheterization, medication administration, and aseptic technique in a clinical setting Familiarity with veterinary terminology, record keeping systems, and basic surgical procedures Excellent client communication skills to provide pet owners with updates and instructions clearly and compassionately Ability to perform cleaning duties diligently while adhering to safety protocols involving PPE use Knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to support diagnostic procedures and treatments effectively This paid position offers a rewarding environment where your skills directly contribute to animal welfare.
