Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this energetic role, you will assist veterinarians with a wide range of clinical procedures, provide compassionate pet care, and support the daily operations of our veterinary practice. Your dedication to animal welfare and attention to detail will help ensure a smooth, efficient, and caring environment for all our furry patients. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and handling animals with care. Perform animal restraint and handling using proper techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnosis. Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and procedures using veterinary terminology and documentation standards. Support pet grooming, pet care routines, and animal husbandry tasks to promote overall well-being. Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting dental cleanings or treatments. Handle animal catheterization, administer medications, and monitor vital signs during critical care situations involving veterinary critical care experience. Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals' behavior to ensure a safe environment. Support equine patients with specialized handling skills when necessary. Skills Proven kennel experience combined with animal handling skills across various species including dogs and horses. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices. Experience with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and analysis. Ability to perform animal restraint effectively using humane techniques; dog training or dog handling skills are a plus. Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a sterile environment. Competence in taking X-ray images accurately while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to pet dentistry; experience supporting dental procedures is advantageous. Ability to communicate clearly with team members about animal conditions using veterinary terminology.
